Remarks on the San-Ei Gen Foundation for Food Chemical Research Homepage.
Congratulations on the opening of the San-Ei Gen Foundation for Food Chemical Research Home Page.
Topics concerning "diet" and "food" have been drawing much attention from the public, since both of them are closely related to everyday life. Additionally, the scope of information related to them has been expanding, and such information is being distributed globally. This is partly because 1) people's lives have been diversified, 2) culture concerning food has been globalized and 3) international distribution of food has been increasing.
Information on the maintenance of health and the safety of food has to be disseminated accurately and promptly, much more so when that information is increasing in quantity and type. The ministry of Health and Welfare is now striving to promote the transparency of administration and the disclosure of information.
Under these circumstances, the San-Ei Gen Foundation for Food Chemical Research has opened a home page to convey information on food and food additives to the public. I am convinced that this is a very timely and meaningful step. I expect this resource will be utilized by many people throughout the world.
